Dots!

Here's a little shout out to cousin Elaine who told us about the magical allure of dots! Kira, Tomie's cousin, is fascinated with computer print outs of dots of random sizes. It's really amazing how captivated she is by them and even more amazing is that she appears to carry out conversations with them as she stares at them. So we decided to try this with Tomie too.


Josh decided to take a little artistic liberty with the patterns and instead of making them "random," he instead created an homage to Tomie's newborn-ness. Pretty deep, huh. He believes that the central figure conveys the existential angst of a newborn trying to be understood by a trio of bland, well intentioned, but ultimately stupid adults (that's us, the three happy face figures). To me, it's just plain scary. What are your interpretations?
